Aloha Nui! Well, what can I say other than “Dream big and follow your dreams!†It has been since I was a kid that I had dreamt of sailing across blue waters and exploring this beautiful planet. Since then it has taken me many years of hard work and focus to realize that dream, but here I sit on my newly purchased 39’Cal Sloop “Flip Flop Logic†the smell of saltwater and newly varnished teak fill the humid air, I rest. With a second now to pause and think of the journey I have been on until I was finally able to reach my goal, I can better assess what it took me to get here. I think a lot of people like to scare dreamers by saying “It takes a lot of Hard Work!†Yes of course, but when you’re doing something you love or building towards a goal that you truly are passionate about then hard work is hardly hard, you are driven by the best source of inspiration and that is self motivation, because only you can actually tell yourself what to do. I wasn’t always so focused and ready to sail off into the sunset. I had a promising career ahead of me at age 23. Why would I throw it all away? Well, it had taken a voice that I had always heard far away, a deep penetrating voice that filled me with prospective and told me to follow my passions, which unlike the worlds virtual eight lane freeway of a life path is much less accommodating and has its fair share of speed bumps. True the freeway of life is well paved and easy to ride, fast and to the finish. Treating life as a race cannot be what life is about, after all who wants to reach the finish line first. Instead I have opted to take my time and enjoy the ride. I have gone through this giant transformation in my life. Though Through my life I have always believed that the most noble research we could do in life was introspective, a search inside of ourselves to try to understand our existence. After my young yet full life thus far I believe this quote can summarize my absolute ambition and purpose in life. “The greatest thing you will ever learn is to love and to be loved in return.†–Natalie Cole I am talking about loving one another; we are social beings with the need to communicate with those around us. Try to love, try to open yourself up to the world, break those barriers down with all of your strength and be who you are! Love people and you will be loved in return! |
