I think back to my childhood and how great it was to be a kid. Worries consisted of the amount of time you had to play outside, and having to wake up to go to school. Everyday was a discovery, and all the things in the world were fresh and new. Mistakes that you made had no impact on your future, and all the people on earth cared, and guided and pushed you in the right direction. Curiosity pulled us to every hidden corner, and to all the dark tunnels outside that our parents forbid us to explore. I think that curiosity is a gift that children have, and something that adults kind of cover up with a shell of false maturity. Children have their own perception of what is important. A child can be very persistent, and achieve a goal of their choosing simply by focusing most of their energy and letting no deterrents stand in their way. As kids, we were all able to climb that tree or stay perfectly silent in a good hiding spot. The goal got one-hundred percent of our attention. More often that not, as children, we either succeeded, or we learned that a branch was too small to climb, and that you always have to pee right when we crouch to hide. Even if we were discovered and tagged during a game of hide and seek, we learned from our mistakes. Getting back more of a child-like mindset and curiosity will if nothing else remind us of a good time, or lead us back to something we once loved but had long forgotten. Maybe by applying this old gift to present life simply for the discovery of something unknown, we can bring back true passion, something I think that fades as most of us grow up. I know that for me, my real goals, the goals of my youth, became so blended with society’s ides of “worthy achievementsâ€, that my goals were lost for sometime. Now I have reassessed what is important to ME, not to everyone else, and I am only pursing those goals. All of my time is focused on enhancing my ability to travel the world, and getting educated in a way that will let me fully enjoy the culture of my travels. -I believe that curiosity will lead me to all the places I need to go in this life, and maybe to a few answers along the way- -T.J.
